Motion sensitive light switches are increasing in popularity.You see them more and more in corporate and public spaces, as they are used for conserving energy, automatically switches-off unused lights after continuous inactivity, significantly reducing energy expenses thereby electricity bills. But do you need to install these light switches in your home? Maybe not in every room.

It is probably best to install a motion sensor in a medium or low-traffic area where you accidentally leave the light on and do not notice. This may include cupboards, bathrooms, entry doors, utility cupboards, garages or guest rooms.
Motion sensors may be best suited for offices and retail stores, as they remove the last employee from responsibility for checking that every light is off. In these settings, motion sensors can be connected to a large number of lights, making the purchase of sensors more affordable.
If you are really concerned about saving energy and money, then you are better off installing energy-efficient lights in your home. CFLs and LED bulbs consume less energy than their incandescent counterparts, greatly reducing the effect of dropping one.
